In challenging times, the best thing we can do is continue to check in on one another and share our optimism that we will be in for a busy summer holiday season as soon as we are vaccinated and can open for travel again.
We encourage our local tourism industry to get vaccinated as the sooner vaccination numbers can be accelerated, the sooner we can claim our incredible way of life back, visit family and friends, get our kids back to school, get back into the workplace, and in doing so restart our local visitor economy.
As an industry we do need to get ready for the time when Sydney is released from lockdown – I feel we will be one of the regions on the front line when it comes to receiving visitors from Sydney. Whilst getting our visitors back is just what we want, we do need to ensure our own staff are protected by being vaccinated, and also able to work, should there be a rule on vaccination being required to do so.
Just last week the NSW Government announced that from 13 September outdoor gatherings for up to five fully vaccinated people (including children) will be allowed in a person’s LGA or within 5km of home. Further freedoms will follow for those who have had the jab when the state hits new vaccination targets of 70 and 80 per cent:
70 per cent vaccination rate a range of family, industry, community and economic restricts will be lifted for those who are vaccinated (must carry proof at all times).
80 per cent full vaccination: further easing of restrictions on industry, community, and the economy.
If you are not booked in for a COVID-19 vaccine, we encourage you to check your eligibility and book an appointment as soon possible and to also encourage your employees to get vaccinated.

Tourism Australia has launched an industry vaccination initiative “It’s Our best Shot for Travel” for both leisure and business events.
Tourism Australia encourage you to get behind the initiative, by downloading the industry toolkits which have posters, banners, and social media tools for use on your own channels. You can access these here.
