The year has flown by and as we approach the last few days of 2018, I would like to thank all of you, our industry partners and stakeholders for your ongoing engagement and collaborative support.
DPS is currently working on developing a new brand positioning for Port Stephens and we look forward to presenting new opportunities to you in 2019. A brand strategy workshop was held with industry and key stakeholders on Friday, 14 December 2018 and an online survey was sent to all members to gain insights into what makes Port Stephens unique to competitively position our beautiful destination to visitors.
Our team will take a short break for Christmas, and our office will close from COB Thursday 20 December 2018, and will reopen on Monday, 7 January 2019.
Looking forward, 2019 is full of promise for us all. On behalf of the DPS team and the Board, we wish you and your families a safe and Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Eileen Gilliland, CEO

The fee change will help fund the increasing maintenance costs, and future visiting facility improvements.
Beach Vehicle Permits are required to drive on Stockton Beach in the Worimi Conservation Lands. The permit allows four-wheel drive and recreational vehicle access to over 22 kms of beach and 350 hectares of dunes.
EVENTS PROGRAM ROUND TWO APPLICATIONS OPEN
Regional events held between July and December 2019 can now apply for NSW Government funding, aimed at driving more overnight visitors to rural and regional towns across the State.
The Regional Flagship Events Program is an umbrella title under which the following two funding streams are now open for events being held between July-December 2019:
• Incubator Event Fund – supporting the establishment of new events. Offers grants of up to $20,000 to events in their first or second year as seed funding for activities that are likely to establish the event as a driver of visitation. An event may apply for any amount up to and including $20,000 but must be able to provide justification for the amount requested; and
• Flagship Event Fund – supporting the marketing of emerging events to increase profile and encourage visitation. Offers two grants to events that have been running for more than two years:
* Annual grants of $20,000 (excl. GST)
* Triennial grants of $27,500 (excl. GST) plus an additional $2,500 (ex.GST) value-in-kind research services per year for three years.
Full eligibility conditions and the fund criteria for both the Incubator Event Fund and the Flagship Event Fund can be found in the Terms and Conditions.
