It is with great pleasure that I can finally announce that we have appointed a CEO of Destination Port Stephens. Eileen Gilliland has accepted the role and will start with us in February of next year.
Eileen brings a wealth of experience to Destination Port Stephens, and is currently working for Destination NSW in the senior role of International Partnerships Manager. Eileen has been with Destination NSW for 12 years, working in such roles as Regional Partnerships Manager and Regional Marketing Specialist. Prior to Destintion NSW Eileen worked for 8 years as the Director of Marketing for Central Coast Tourism, so needless to say Eileen has the right experience to lead Destination Port Stephens.
It is due to the great work both our members, and Destination Port Stephens have done in the past, promoting Port Stephens, that such an experienced destination marketer was interested in the role with us, so we should all be proud that Destination Port Stephens, and the region generally, is held in such high regard within the tourism industry. Eileen had wanted to move back into a regional role and leave Sydney, however there were only a few regional destinations that were of interest, with Port Stephens being high on her list.
I do apologize that it has taken longer than everybody would have liked to make this announcement, however we had to wait until Eileen had notified her current staff and managers at Destination NSW before we could let you all know. I’m hopeful that our first members meeting next year in February is well attended, it’ll be a great chance to meet with Eileen and show her what a great group of operators she has to work with.
I’d also like to wish everybody a happy, prosperous Christmas and New Year period. The weather forecast looks OK, so lets hope we have plenty of happy, big spending guests to look after!
