Destination Port Stephens

Destination Port Stephens (DPS) is a non-profit, incorporated body supported by Port Stephens Council (PSC), owned by members and autonomously managed by a board of nine industry representatives. We conduct activities on behalf of our members; for the betterment of the region as a destination; to stimulate the local economy and ultimately provide the lifestyle benefits we have grown to love.

Funding for DPS marketing activities is sourced primarily from the annual investment from PSC and other strategic partners plus hard-won grants but ultimately, it is up to industry – the members – to support the organisation that, in the main, is responsible for the success of the visitor economy that is the life blood of our region.

The DPS team may be small but it is made up of a passionate and professional group of individual that strive for a strong Port Stephens visitor economy. The team is includes

What we want to achieve

To become the premier regional NSW Tourism destination, by consistently growing tourism, whilst maintaining a sustainable industry for the benefit of business and residents alike.

Improve industry sustainability by attracting visitors from diverse markets.

Develop the industry in harmony with the environment and the community.

Our marketing activities include

  • Developing and running major branded marketing campaigns in all media
  • Providing opportunities for members to market their product/ business as part of the campaigns
  • Supporting member activities with funding or collateral
  • Attending consumer and trade expos
  • Hosting familiarisation trips for media and travel industry
  • Engaging in extensive digital marketing activities
  • Maintaining and promoting a consumer web site
  • Providing an on line booking service for accommodation, tours, attractions and activities
  • Producing a regional visitor guide and a regional map
  • Hosting monthly industry networking meetings
  • Working closely with the Visitor Centres to promote member’s businesses
  • Providing members with extensive research, statistics, industry intelligence and forecast

Memberships – be a part of the team

Membership is available to all businesses and individuals based in Port Stephens or in Newcastle, Maitland or Great Lakes Local Government areas. Memberships extend to the end of the financial year. With a flat membership fee of $200* per annum + gst, you can pick and choose from co-operative marketing opportunities to suit your business and your budget.



*Membership is based on a financial year. If you join:
More than 6 months prior to the end of the financial year – full membership fees apply ($200 plus GST).
Less than six months of the end of the financial year you can opt to pay pro-rata ($50 per quarter) plus the next financial year membership fee at the time of joining e.g. join in January the fee will be $100 to end June plus $200 for next financial – total $300 plus GST for 1.5 years membership.
